So many of us are trying to improve our diets, replacing meat-heavy dishes with ones that are predominantly plant-based. Those of us who prefer to reduce our meat consumption rather than completely eliminate meat and animal-derived ingredients should welcome the dishes we are making on The Frugal Flexitarian. Healthy dishes that are neither expensive nor tricky to make. The start of a new lifestyle.
Here at the Frugal Flexitarian, we are sharing our favourites with you – exploring cuisines from around the world as we do so. Both of us are travellers and both are food writers. Our paths crossed discovering a healthy Mediterranean lifestyle on a Gulet trip around Turkey and Greece. We hung fishing rods from the Gulet as we travelled, caught sea bass and bream for supper. Our Turkish cook made an abundance of dishes using fresh vegetables, pulses and herbs that we picked up when we set anchor for the night in the tiny villages along the Mediterranean coastline.
We discovered a mutual love of food. And, we’ve stayed friends, sharing meals in London and beyond.
Although we come from very different backgrounds and from countries that are thousands of miles apart, we share many of the same food values and now want to share them with you too.
